Thyroid Test

THYRO CHECK® is a rapid at home screening test for raised TSH, thyroid stimulating hormone, used to flag possible hypothyroidism. The kit is intended for people who have noticed symptoms such as persistent tiredness, unexplained weight gain, dry skin, brittle hair, low mood, feeling cold or menstrual irregularities, signs sometimes caused by an underactive thyroid. The test detects elevated TSH at a screening threshold of around 5 µIU/mL from a small blood or finger prick sample. Results appear rapidly, giving you an immediate indication that a formal blood panel and clinical review might be needed. This is a screening tool and not a diagnostic lab report, so a positive or suspicious result should prompt a visit to your GP for confirmatory blood tests such as T4 and TSH and a clinical assessment. THYRO CHECK® is handy for screening when symptoms are subtle and you would prefer to start with a quick private check at home. Keep the instructions and any result to show your clinician as it can make the follow up quicker and clearer.
